Megan Hayati is Senior Counsel in Freeman Mathis & Gary's Hermosa Beach office in the firm’s Securities, Professional Liability and Insurance Coverage, and Labor and Employment sections. As part of her securities and professional liability practice, she primarily represents individuals and broker-dealers in customer-related disputes and regulatory matters before FINRA, the SEC, and federal and state courts. Ms. Hayati also represents clients in general business disputes concerning contracts, real estate investments, fraud, and unfair business practices.
As part of her employment law practice, Ms. Hayati represents employers and organizations in a wide range of civil lawsuits and administrative matters including tort claims, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour, and breach of contract actions. Ms. Hayati also has experience defending clients against class action wage and hour claims and has successfully defeated class certification for a nursing facility in two related matters.
Ms. Hayati received her undergraduate degree from University of California Los Angeles, summa cum laude. She then earned her Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School. While in law school, Ms. Hayati was a board member of the National Lawyers Guild club wherein she underwent legal observer training and acted as a legal observer for several largescale protests in Los Angeles county. Prior to joining Freeman Mathis & Gary, Ms. Hayati was a Loyola Law School Fellow with Levitt and Quinn Family Law Center where she created an Intercountry Family Adoption Initiative that provided community education to families and the legal community on their rights and responsibilities under the Adoption Hague Convention.
