Gretchen Carner has practiced in the areas of complex civil litigation, insurance coverage and bad faith law since 1987. Her insurance expertise includes litigation and coverage advice in the areas of general liability, professional liability, property and casualty, D&O, workers’ compensation, and employers’ liability coverage. She has also handled significant litigation involving coverage issues relating to bodily injury, personal injury, advertising injury, and property damage.

Ms. Carner has extensive experience in handling employment issues for employers, general business disputes, and cases alleging errors and omissions by professionals such as directors, officers, insurance agents, insurance brokers and lawyers. She also has substantial experience handling the defense of professionals and employers in cases involving issues of discrimination, wrongful termination and sexual harassment/abuse. She also advises HOA boards and their directors in various matters and defends them in litigated disputes. In addition, she has successfully defended several trial court rulings in her clients’ favor in the California appellate courts.

 

She has participated as a speaker in seminars relating to good faith claims handling practices, annual training seminars on the California insurance claims handling regulations, professional malpractice issues geared toward loss prevention, and on issues relating to malicious prosecution actions.
