Brent Bean is a Partner in the Atlanta office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP. Brent's practice is primarily devoted to representing companies in lawsuits brought against them by employees. He litigates a variety of employment discrimination cases, as well as class action and collective wage and hour claims. He also provides advice and counsel to management regarding employment law issues.  In addition, Mr. Bean focuses on professional liability claims, including defending a wide variety of professional negligence cases and errors and omissions claims against lawyers, insurance agents, real estate agents and other professional service providers.  He also defends companies in consumer law claims and has significant appellate experience. 

Mr. Bean has represented healthcare companies throughout his career.  Representative cases include: Smelter v. Southern Homecare Services, Inc., (MD GA 2016) (summary judgment granted in race discrimination and hostile work environment clam); Solis v. ResCare, Inc., (ND WV 2013) (motion to dismiss granted in FLSA misclassification case); Campbell v. Gambro Healthcare (10th Cir 2007) (Summary judgment affirmed in FMLA interference and retaliation claim); Bush v. Gambro Healthcare, (6th Cir 2006) (summary judgment affirmed in race discrimination and hostile work environment claim); Nelson v. Southern Home Care, Inc. (2014 Contra Costa Co, CA)(California wage and hour collective action – negotiated settlement); Smith v. ResCare, Inc. (SD WV 2015) ( FCRA background check class action – negotiated settlement).  In addition to litigating cases through appeal, he has provided advice and counsel to healthcare entities regarding issues such as state and federal compliance, pay, locum tenens contracts, peer review and doctor contractual issues, including mediation and dispute resolution.

Brent served as General Counsel of a financial services company. Brent is also fluent in written and spoken German and is also an Eagle Scout.
