T. Bart Gary is a member of the firm's Commercial and Complex Litigation and Construction Law practice groups and is a Registered Mediator in the State of Georgia.

Mr. Gary has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America, named a Georgia "Super Lawyer," a Leading Business Lawyer and Construction Lawyer by Chambers USA, and a “Star Litigator” by Benchmark Litigation. He also is a Special Assistant Attorney General for the state of Georgia. Mr. Gary has extensive arbitration, trial, and appellate experience and has successfully represented clients in a number of multi-million dollar cases throughout the country.

Mr. Gary's commercial and financial transactions practice encompasses representation of both public and private entities in a variety of contract matters, joint venture relationships, bonds and financial guarantee matters, real property transactions, partnership and shareholder formations and dissolutions, and many other commercial and regulatory matters.

Mr. Gary's construction and design practice includes representing business corporations and local governments of all types, including general contractors, subcontractors, owners, developers, architects, engineers, suppliers, and sureties on a regional and national basis. He also handles construction defect cases and professional negligence matters for professionals, including architects and engineers.

Mr. Gary is the author of the Georgia Construction Law Handbook, a leading treatise, which is available for purchase on the Freeman Mathis & Gary website. He has lectured widely on a variety of commercial law, construction, and professional liability matters.

Mr. Gary received his undergraduate degree from Furman University (B.A., magna cum laude) and his law degree from the University of Georgia (J.D., cum laude), where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Georgia Law Review. Mr. Gary also was Law Clerk to the Honorable Wilbur D. Owens, United States District Court, Middle District of Georgia, and Law Clerk to the Honorable R. Lanier Anderson III, United States Court of Appeals, Fifth (now Eleventh) Circuit.
