Overview

Craig A. Tomlins is a Partner in the Sacramento office of Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and a member of the Firm’s Commercial Litigation/Directors & Officers, Labor and Employment Law, and Tort and Catastrophic Loss Practice Sections. He is also Co-Chair of the firm's Homeowners Associations (HOA) national practice team. Mr. Tomlins is an experienced litigator having successfully defended private employers, public entities, individuals, insurance companies, and homeowners’ associations in State and Federal courts throughout Northern California in a variety of labor and employment, tort and catastrophic loss, homeowners’ association, commercial litigation, errors and omissions defense, general liability, and tort matters.

Mr. Tomlins’ commercial practice includes representing homeowners’ associations and their Boards of Directors in lawsuits and arbitrations arising out of the Davis-Stirling Act and the California Corporations Code.  His practice also includes professional liability defense involving insurance brokers/agents, architects/engineers, and payroll companies. 

Mr. Tomlins’ employment practice encompasses defending employers in a variety of labor and employment matters in California state and federal courts, including individual, collective and class action lawsuits involving wage and hour claims, PAGA claims, FEHA claims, retaliation claims, wrongful termination, race, gender, age, sexual orientation and disability discrimination, racial and sexual harassment, and DFEH and EEOC Charges.   

As part of the Tort and Catastrophic Loss Practice Section, Mr. Tomlins defends insurance carriers and their insureds, including individuals and businesses, in catastrophic casualty and personal injury claims, premises liability, insurance bad faith, and underinsured motorist actions.
