Overview

Joseph Roberts is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Orange County office and is a member of the firm’s Commercial, Financial Services and Banking, and Labor & Employment Law Sections. Mr. Roberts earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law, and thereafter consulted premier corporate clients on legal issues in transactions at a global professional services firm before joining FMG.

Within the firm’s Commercial Section, Mr. Roberts has a diverse corporate practice providing advisory support as well as representation in civil and regulatory matters in court and arbitration settings. His experience provides expertise on a range of commercial issues in the areas of corporate governance, contractual agreements, corporate transactions, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, Mr. Roberts experience in commercial litigation includes defending corporate clients from shareholder claims, director and officer issues, contractual disputes, intellectual property matters, and more. 

As a member of the firm’s Financial Services & Banking Section, Mr. Roberts represents banking and asset management clients in disputes and regulatory matters held in state and federal court, as well as before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the California Department of Corporations, and the California Department of Insurance. The investments involved in these disputes include a variety of financial products arising from both public offerings as well as private placement offerings. 

With respect to his employment practice, Mr. Roberts has represented employers in discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wrongful termination, wage and hour class action claims, and Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) representative actions.
