Kristina Thompson is a Senior Counsel at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Atlanta office. Ms. Thompson is a member of the firm’s Tort & Catastrophic Loss and Government Law practice areas. She focuses her practice on insurance defense, premises liability, premises security liability, catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters, and products liability litigation. Ms. Thompson represents individuals, businesses, and insurers in a broad range of tort-related disputes and has successfully defended matters at both the trial and appellate levels.

Before attending the University of Georgia School of Law, Ms. Thompson worked for a member of the United States Senate from Washington D.C., attending briefings and meeting with interest groups, and conducting research on energy, small business, government operations and environment issues for the senator. During law school, Ms. Thompson clerked for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security. As a legal clerk, she analyzed pending legislation and amendments to provide vote recommendations and researched and drafted legislation on a wide variety of issues, including human trafficking, labor trafficking and human smuggling, and most notably, the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act (introduced in 2015).

Following admission to the Georgia Bar, Ms. Thompson returned to Washington, D.C. and served as Legislative Counsel and Director of the Victims’ Rights Caucus in the United States House of Representatives. he provided advice and counsel to a member of Congress on pending legislation and developments related to health care, education, science, budget, tax, trade, crime and victims’ rights, and appropriations, and managed the 85-member bipartisan Victims’ Rights Caucus, helping to advance crime victim initiatives through the legislative process. After three years in the House, Kristina returned to her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia, to practice law.
