John Ghose Joins FMG as Partner and Co-Chair of National Data Security, Privacy & Technology Practice Section

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, a leading nationwide litigation law firm with over 200 attorneys in 20 offices in 10 states, is pleased to announce that John Ghose has joined the Firm as a partner and Co-Chair of FMG’s National Data Security, Privacy & Technology practice section. Mr. Ghose will work in the Atlanta office.

Before joining FMG, Mr. Ghose was an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice for nearly 10 years, focusing on cybercrime prosecution and most recently at the Computer Crimes and Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS) in Washington, D.C. He previously worked in the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in Atlanta and Philadelphia.

Mr. Ghose’s practice will focus on advising clients on their data security and privacy legal issues, including regulatory compliance with U.S. federal and state data security and privacy laws. He also will provide 24/7 emergency response in the event of a data security incident, such as a ransomware attack, data breach, wire transfer fraud, or extortion demand. He also will handle litigation of data security and privacy claims, including class action data breach cases, technology errors and omissions claims, and enforcement actions and investigations by government regulators.

In addition, Mr. Ghose will practice with the Firm’s National Commercial Litigation and Director & Officer practice section, working with clients on a variety of matters including 3D printing, blockchain and cryptocurrency, financial technology, licensing, IoT, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, confidential information, trademark and copyrights, and social media.

Mr. Ghose also is an accomplished trial attorney who has tried and won eleven federal jury trials, including eight as first chair. In 2018, John was awarded the Director’s Award from the Executive Office of U.S. Attorneys—one of the Department of Justice’s highest honors—for his work on Operation Ghost Guard, one of the largest public corruption investigations in FBI history, involving the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Mr. Ghose is a subject matter expert on cryptocurrency and dark web investigations who has taught widely on these subjects, both domestically and abroad.
