David M. Daniels is a partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary's Sacramento office and co-chairs the Firm's Complex and Commercial Litigation National Practice Group. Mr. Daniels is an accomplished trial lawyer with a wide ranging litigation practice encompassing a variety of commercial litigation, employment, coverage, professional liability and construction matters. He also is recognized aa a premier defense attorney in Northern California having served as President of the Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California and Nevada.

For over 23 years, Mr. Daniels has defended many of California’s most significant businesses, both non-profit and for profit, throughout federal and state courts and in a multitude of arbitrations and mediations. He also is panel counsel for a number of the nation’s largest insurance carriers and has handled both first party and third party claims, coverage and bad faith disputes.

Mr. Daniels is a member of FMG’s California Employment Team and has defended virtually every type of employment claim including section 1983 cases; discrimination; sexual harassment; wrongful discharge; violations of state and federal employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FEHA, Title VII, EPPA, ADEA, and wage and hour disputes, and restrictive covenant matters.

Mr. Daniels serves as outside general counsel for a number of his clients. He has a particular focus in the manufacturing, hospitality and construction industries. He assists clients with the day-to-day legal needs including general legal advice, contracts, audits, investigations, human resources matters and corporate governance.

Mr. Daniels also is a member of FMG’s Business Liability and Professional Liability Sections. He has represented a variety of professionals in errors and omissions claims including design professionals, lawyers and real estate agents. His CGL experience is substantial having handled defense of numerous personal injury claims including catastrophic injuries and deaths.

Mr. Daniels received his law degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha Nebraska. While in law school, he was the recipient of the Christian Leadership Award. Mr. Daniels received his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University, graduating with a Combined Science degree in chemistry and biology. He lectures extensively to the business community and insurance industry on legal and regulatory issues impacting California operations.
