Glenn M. Kenna is an associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Sacramento office. Mr. Kenna is a member of the firm’s Professional Liability and Insurance Coverage National Practice Sections.  He is also a member of the Transportation and Data Security, Privacy & Technology National Practice Teams. He works primarily in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith.

Mr. Kenna has drafted numerous coverage opinions involving complex coverage disputes.  He also represents insurers in bad faith actions resulting from the handling of first party property damage claims, underinsured/uninsured motorist claims and third-party liability claims. He has obtained favorable results for insurance clients in both California state court and federal court. His results include the early dismissal of bad faith claims using California’s Anti-SLAPP procedures.

In addition to defending insurance carriers in court, Mr. Kenna is experienced in providing opinions regarding potential bad faith exposure resulting from allegedly improper claims handling. He has also helped insurers avoid costly bad faith lawsuits involving attempts by plaintiffs’ counsel to set up the insurer using unreasonable settlement demand conditions. In one such case, Mr. Kenna helped the insurer settle a pending personal injury case for minimal policy limits after the plaintiff had taken a pre-trial assignment of the bad faith cause of action and had demanded more than $500,000.00 in excess of the policy limits.

In his Cyber practice, Mr. Kenna provides advice on compliance with U.S. federal and state data security and privacy laws. He also serves as breach counsel, providing clients with comprehensive assistance in the event of a data security incident.

Mr. Kenna graduated from Colorado State University with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Political Science. Mr. Kenna attended the Loyola Chicago School of Law, where he received his law degree Magna Cum Laude. While at Loyola, he was a senior editor on Loyola’s Consumer Law Review Journal, interned for the Loyola Community Law Clinic and was actively involved in the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity. He received the CALI award for the top mark in Insurance Law, Community Law Clinic I, and Community Law Clinic II.
