Michael P. Bruyere is a Partner in the firm's CGL and Business Liability group, and he chairs the Firm's Complex and Commercial Litigation group, and he heads the Life Sciences Litigation Practice. His experience includes cases involving prescription and generic drugs, medical devices (including implantable devices), biologics, human clinical trials, genetic testing and prosthetics. He has represented clients facing claims in state and federal courts, including class actions, multi-district litigation, and arbitration. Mike has utilized his engineering background and legal training in class action lawsuits during his representation of some of the world's leading businesses.

Mr. Bruyere's experience includes products liability defense and the defense of health care organizations in government False Claims Act investigations and qui tam lawsuits. He has advised health system networks, pharmacy benefits managers, medical device manufacturers, clinical research organizations, hospitals, long-term care providers, home health agencies, drug manufacturers, pharmacies, dialysis centers, infusion care centers, and hospice care providers.

Mr. Bruyere also has defended a variety of businesses in connection with a wide range of disputes, including product defect and consumer fraud class actions, trade secret theft, unfair competition, restrictive covenant matters, securities and corporate governance cases, business-to-business transactional disputes, and other commercial litigation.  His practice also includes an extensive range of insurance coverage matters and claims-handling for primary and excess carriers in the domestic and London markets. He has represented insurance companies and syndicates in sophisticated coverage disputes with particular emphasis on fiduciary matters and in the emerging life sciences area. In addition, he has acted as defense and monitoring counsel for high exposure actions against insureds.

Mr. Bruyere has represented institutional trustees, including ERISA Plan Trustees, faced with significant breach of fiduciary duty litigation and representation of banks and other financial service providers in securities  litigation, proxy contest disputes, trade secret disputes and employment restrictive covenants in the technology industry, power plant construction, fiber optic cable construction and installation, lender liability claims, professional liability, "big tobacco" product liability, toxic torts, false advertising claims under the Lanham Act, public contract bid disputes, and administrative challenges to government agency rulings.

Mr. Bruyere co-wrote the article titled "Medical Device Sales Representatives in the OR; Valuable Resource, Potentail Liability, or Both?", which recieved the DRI G. Duffield Smith Publication Award for the most outstanding article of the year. Mr. Bruyere is a co-author of the Florida chapter of West's 50-State Products Liability Guide. He published a law review article on the constitutionality of mandatory HIV testing that was cited in the "Worth Reading" section of the National Law Journal. He has been quoted in publications such as American Lawyer Magazine, Daily Business Review, and Insurance and Technology Magazine.

Mr. Bruyere is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he received a B.S. in Engineering. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Bruyere served as an officer in the U.S. Army and was an Honor Graduate of the Army’s Ranger and Airborne Schools.
