Casey Stansbury and the FMG team successfully secured settlement in a wrongful conviction case involving our a City client. The plaintiffs brought suit in federal court for various claims, including but not limited to, malicious prosecution, violations of due process, conspiracy, false arrest and false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and defamation. Plaintiffs demanded $100 million in damages from our client. On the verge of trial, Mr. Stansbury and his team were able to negotiate this down to $1.3 million, a $98.7 million dollar difference. Although, the plaintiffs had no interest in entering negotiations, Mr. Stansbury’s presentation of the defense got the parties to come to an agreement. This outcome saved our client millions in attorney’s fees and avoided a lengthy litigation.
