Overview

John Bocchino is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP's Orlando office. His practice focuses on healthcare law, particularly medical malpractice defense, with extensive trial experience, having tried over 60 medical negligence cases to verdict. He represents a wide range of healthcare providers, including individual practices, outpatient facilities, and hospitals, and handles administrative investigations and claims statewide.

Mr. Bocchino also has experience in commercial litigation, trucking and automobile cases, contracts, coverage disputes, and premises liability. Recognized among the Best Lawyers in his field since 2015, he was named “Lawyer of the Year” in 2020 and has served as an arbitrator in alternative dispute matters. He frequently lectures on insurance, claims, risk management, and healthcare-related topics.

Mr. Bocchino has tried over 75 cases in defense of insureds in many realms. He has received recognition of his areas of specialty through Martindale Hubble being AV rated for 20 plus years, as well as Best Lawyers in Orlando and Florida. In 2025 he has been selected by his peers Top Lawyer in Insurance Defense. 

Mr. Bocchino earned his Bachelor of Science from Florida State University in 1981 and his Juris Doctorate with honors from Florida State University College of Law in 1985. Admitted to all Florida State Courts, he has held an AV Peer Review rating from Martindale-Hubbell for over 20 years.
