S. Michael Lee is a Senior Counsel in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Walnut Creek, Northern California office in its Tort and High-Tech practice teams. He handles general liability, intellectual property, privacy, and data breach representation.
Prior to coming to FMG, Mr. Lee was the Head of Legal or General Counsel of three different Silicon Valley startups including an AI chip design company, a social networking platform, and an AI chatbot builder. Mr. Lee was also a civil regulator and white-collar crime prosecutor with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office and a Senior Associate on the complex trial team of a different AM Law 200 firm. With 47 jury trials in state and federal court, he has handled automobile negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, and theft of trade secrets in civil trials. He has also handled a wide variety of criminal law matters including white-collar prosecutions including tax evasion, embezzlement, and fraud.
