John McAvoy is an Associate Attorney in the firm’s Philadelphia and New Jersey offices. Mr. McAvoy represents employers in all matters of Labor and Employment litigation. His litigation experience includes the defense of varied employment claims, including: race, national origin, disability, sex, and sexual orientation discrimination, wage and hour law violations, breach of fiduciary duty, wrongful discharge, hostile work environment, defamation, and retaliation under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (PHRA), the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination (LAD); Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA); and the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA). He has successfully defended cases involving a variety of employment, business, professional liability, civil rights, government, tort, catastrophic loss, and premises liability claims advanced in administrative, state, and federal courts throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Mr. McAvoy frequently counsels companies of all sizes on workplace issues and best practices, contract negotiations, employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and the preparation and modification of workplace discrimination, safety, and other custom policies carefully designed to fulfill the client’s needs and ensure compliance with the exacting requirements of state and federal law.
