Jake Loken is an associate in the Government Law practice section and Tort and Catastrophic Loss section at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP. As part of the firm’s Government Law section, Mr. Loken has a broad litigation practice with a focus on defending cities, counties, law enforcement officers, and other government employees in civil rights and general liability matters in both state and federal trial and appellate courts. Mr. Loken’s practice also includes the defense of private businesses and individuals in general liability matters.

Mr. Loken received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law, with honors, where he served as Executive Managing Editor for the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal. While in law school, Mr. Loken gained valuable legal experience working for the City of Atlanta Public Defender’s Office and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office as an extern. Mr. Loken was also involved in the Student Bar Association for his entire law school career. Additionally, Mr. Loken was a Pupil in the Lamar Inn of Court, where he participated by presenting to lawyers on changing laws and relevant news impacting the legal community.

Mr. Loken received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tampa, magna cum laude, where he graduated with a Bachelor or Science in Marketing, with a minor in Government and World Affairs. While at the University of Tampa, Mr. Loken received the Ken Jensen Memorial Award for Marketing Student of the Year and was heavily involved in moot court and student government.
