As coverage counsel to large domestic insurers, Ms. Miranda provides coverage analysis of multiple lines of insurance and defends the firm’s insurance clients in declaratory relief, breach of contract, and bad faith actions. She also consults on the drafting of specialty coverage policies, including emerging issues in cyber liability coverage.
Ms. Miranda litigates claims involving breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, suitability, fraud, violation of securities laws, and related claims as part of her commercial litigation and financial services practice areas.
As a former information technology consultant, Ms. Miranda brings important technical knowledge and legal experience to her role as trusted data security and data breach counsel. Ms. Miranda guides companies and governmental organizations in developing and implementing policies and procedures to avoid risks associated with cyber-attacks, ransomware, and employee-related breaches and disclosures. Should a breach or attack occur, Ms. Miranda assists clients in rapidly implementing response plans, including managing the forensic investigations, breach notifications, public relations communications, and regulatory inquiries, as well as defending clients in breach-related litigation. She also advises clients on strategies for complying with the increasing number of data privacy and security laws, as well as the development of sound risk transfer strategies. Ms. Miranda is also a frequent speaker on topics involving the intersection of technology and the law.
Ms. Miranda served as a judicial extern to The Honorable Richard R. Clifton of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Justice Richard Pollack of the Hawaii Supreme Court, and Judge Yvette Palazuelos of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
