Catherine “Cat” Scott is an attorney in the Freeman Mathis & Gary's Boston and Providence offices.

Ms. Scott enjoys a diverse practice that includes employment litigation and counseling, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation, professional liability defense and business litigation. Ms. Scott routinely represents employers of various sizes in various administrative proceedings, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, and in federal and state court on such diverse issues as discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, wage and hour claims, and breach of contract/breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing and other business-related claims. Ms. Scott takes particular pride in her repeat clients to whom she provides employment counseling and advice on issues ranging from employee handbook revisions to internal investigations to advice concerning separation/severance agreements. She also regularly represents insurers and other businesses concerning coverage issues and/or general business litigation issues.

Ms. Scott received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University in 2011 and her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 2014. Ms. Scott’s professional experience includes an appellate clerkship with the Honorable Judge Cynthia Cohen (ret.) of the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Before joining Freeman Mathis & Gary, Ms. Scott was a litigator with a mid-sized Boston law firm.

Ms. Scott has a particular interest in and experience with both state and federal appellate advocacy, which began as an intern for the Honorable Judge Cynthia Cohen (ret.) of the Massachusetts Appeals Court, her first “co-op” while studying law at Northeastern University School of Law. She regularly engages in pro bono work for the Civil Appeals Clinic run by the Volunteer Lawyers Project.

Ms. Scott lives in Medfield, Massachusetts with her husband and son. In her free time, Ms. Scott enjoys watching movies and Alabama football, reading contemporary fiction, and spending time with her four cats.
