Robert E. Buckley is a partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Atlanta office. Mr. Buckley is part of the Commercial Litigation/Directors & Officers National Practice Section. He has extensive experience litigating a variety of complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts. Mr. Buckley's experience encompasses disputes involving real estate, franchises, contracts and shareholder claims as well as claims for unfair and deceptive trade practices. Further, he has litigated claims involving director and officer liability, business torts, false claims act/qui tam claims and misappropriation of trade secrets. He also has developed expertise in defending property preservation and inspection claims arising from field services provided for residential mortgage loan servicers. 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Buckley spent four years as in-house litigation counsel for a real estate services company where he oversaw and implemented litigation strategy for a dynamic portfolio of claims and cases throughout the United States. Having been a client to numerous law firms while he was in-house counsel, Mr. Buckley has an informed perspective on client needs and expectations. 

While in law school at Emory University, Mr. Buckley received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Analytical Methods and the Morton Aronson Franchise Law Award, which recognizes outstanding achievement in studies of franchise law. He was a Dean’s List recipient while attending law school and Boston University. During law school, Mr. Buckley served as President of the Intellectual Property Society and was the Graduate Senate Representative for the Student Bar Association.
