Breandan Cotter is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Atlanta office. Mr. Cotter’s practice focuses on litigation related to insurance coverage and tort and catastrophic loss. Breandan’s clients include a wide array of leading national insurers and brands, as well as local and small businesses. He represents clients from pre-suit to post-judgment in the following areas: insurance bad faith and extra-contractual damages, insurance coverage, breach of contract, premises liability, negligent security, dram shop, trucking, and wrongful death actions.
Breandan’s insurance coverage practice includes performing coverage investigations, taking examinations under oath, preparing opinion letters, preparing reservations of rights, and advising on, filing, and defending against declaratory judgment actions. He also evaluates time-limited demands and advises carriers regarding bad faith or extracontractual liability exposure, as well as advises clients and carriers regarding defense and indemnity provisions in contracts, leases, and insurance policies and making recommendations to seek or respond to tenders of defense and/ or indemnity.
Breandan is a graduate of Boston College, with a degree in History and Hispanic Studies. He received his JD from Georgia State University College of Law, where he was a Dean’s Scholar and Graduate Research Assistant. He also participated in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition and the Health Law Partnership Legal Services Clinic. He is currently involved in the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the DeKalb Bar Association.
In his free time, Breandan enjoys golfing, wildlife, and cheering on Atlanta sports teams.
