David M. Hawkins is an Associate in Freeman Mathis and Gary, LLP’s Newark and New York City offices. David focuses his practice on complex litigation. He has litigated cases in New York and New Jersey courts on a wide range of matters, including commercial and residential landlord/tenant, tort claims, residential co-ops, breach of contract, and Article 78 appeal. Unlike most lawyers, David thoroughly enjoyed law school and finds all aspects and areas of the law to be exciting and interesting.
After law school, David clerked for the Honorable J. Randall Corman, J.S.C., of the New Jersey Superior Court, Middlesex Vicinage. During his time as a clerk, David gained valuable insight into the litigation process, the judicial system, and how to evaluate issues like a judge would evaluate them. He also gained valuable experience as a court-trained mediator and mediated dozens of disputes between litigants.
In his free time, David enjoys spending time in the outdoors, whether its fishing, camping, hiking, or exploring Central Park, Edinburgh, or Paris with his wife. David is also an avid sports fan and enjoys travelling across the country to experience new sporting venues.
