Edgar J. Gutierrez is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Los Angeles – Downtown office. He is a member of the Tort & Catastrophic Loss Practice Section. He is also a member of the Product Liability Interdisciplinary Team. An accomplished attorney with more than 25 years of concentrated experience in product liability and general liability defense, he represents clients in both state and federal courts with a proven record of developing litigation strategies that deliver significant financial benefits to clients. He has litigated and tried cases in California, Texas and Washington. He has also been recognized as a Top Attorney by Pasadena Magazine and a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.

Mr. Gutierrez represents product manufacturers, retailers, insurers and Fortune 500 companies in catastrophic injury and high-exposure litigation. His practice spans the defense of automotive and other motorized vehicles, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, industrial equipment manufacturers and transportation clients. Past representative clients have included, Aston Martin, Whirlpool Corporation, Pitco Frialator, Inc., Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, Inc. n/k/a NACCO Materials Handling Group, Inc., Aston Martin, Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. and Sealed Air Corporation.

Mr. Gutierrez is a past member of the Defense Research Institute, Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Southern California Association of Defense Counsel. He has lectured on the topics of preparing for and testifying at corporate employee depositions and fire origin and cause investigations and analysis in the context of insurance subrogation matters. A long-time resident of Pasadena, he served as the District 1 Commissioner for the Recreation and Parks Commission for the City of Pasadena. During his time at Southwestern University School of Law, he participated in the Moot Court Honors Program.
