Glenn A. Klinger is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Chicago office. He counsels insurers and businesses on all aspects of coverage and risk transfer disputes and, when necessary, represents those companies in civil and commercial litigation in state and federal courts across the country.
From pre-suit opinion letters and claim analysis to prosecution and defense of complex coverage matters, Glenn works with companies to identify liability and minimize exposures. For the last decade, he has worked on pre-suit and litigated matters arising under policies that insure professional liability and errors and omissions, primary and excess commercial general liability, commercial auto, and commercial property. He also comfortably handles issues arising under specialty lines of environmental, cyber, and fine arts coverage. He has favorably resolved litigation involving the duty to defend, risk transfer and allocation, bad faith, and the duty to indemnify based on the pleadings, at summary judgment, and through alternative dispute proceedings.
Glenn also serves as monitoring counsel for complex and high value tort, contractual, and civil disputes, and maintains a general liability defense practice. He has defended insurance, real estate, and finance professionals, construction and transportation contractors, and many other kinds of businesses against malpractice, negligence, breach of contract, and consumer protection claims.
Since 2020, Glenn has served on the Board of Directors of Illinois Defense Counsel, an association of defense trial attorneys, and is committed to the practice development of new attorneys. He has authored many articles for the IDC Quarterly’s Practice Development Section and presented at the IDC’s A to Z Litigation Academy. He also remains actively involved in helping high school and law students learn evidence and develop their own advocacy styles through mock trial.
