Gordan Truong is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Dallas–Downtown office and a member of the Insurance Coverage & Extra-Contractual Liability and Tort & Catastrophic Loss Practice Sections. He routinely serves as lead excess/umbrella coverage monitor for national and regional carriers, overseeing high-exposure matters from allocation and reservation of rights through resolution.
Mr. Truong’s prior litigation practice includes commercial auto and trucking, premises liability, dram shop, products liability, construction defect, and landlord/tenant claims, with particular emphasis on monitoring defense strategies and coverage exposure for excess carriers. He evaluates trigger and allocation issues, analyzes bad-faith and extra-contractual risk, advises on litigation costs and reserves, and directs coverage-driven defense and resolution strategies—frequently handling high-exposure matters that implicate multi-layered coverage.
An aggressive litigator in state and federal courts, Mr. Truong has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in America as a "One to Watch" in Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation – Defendants, and Product Liability Litigation – Defendants, and as a Texas Super Lawyers Rising Star. He handles matters from claim inception through trial, including pre-suit investigations, coverage opinion drafting, monitoring litigation tactics to protect excess interests, and negotiating settlements and allocations that minimize carrier exposure.
Mr. Truong represents grocery stores, bars, and restaurants in Texas Dram Shop Statute matters, handles significant construction defect and product liability exposure for manufacturers and contractors, and manages landlord/tenant disputes ranging from evictions to breach-of-contract claims. He is active in the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Dallas Asian American Bar Association and the Dallas LGBT Bar Association.
