Jacob S. Madsen is Senior Counsel in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Atlanta office. Mr. Madsen focuses his practice on representing clients in commercial matters including nationwide Anti-trust litigation, class actions, and multi-district litigation. In addition, Mr. Madsen focuses on professional liability defense involving accountants, attorneys, and other professionals. Mr. Madsen brings together his life, work, and military experiences to diligently obtain the best possible resolution for his clients. Clients appreciate the focus and attention to detail he provides to resolving every matter as well as his ability to address potential issues which could arise in the future.
Mr. Madsen’s commercial litigation practice includes claims involving complex commercial and business litigation, business divorce or shareholder/partnership/member disputes, disputes arising out of non-compete/non-solicitation agreements, disputes related to trade secrets, business torts, breach of contract claims, fiduciary litigation, and director and officer litigation (D&O).
In his professional liability practice, Mr. Madsen combines his diverse trial and litigation experience to effectively represent professionals who face a broad range of claims including malpractice, breach of fiduciary duties and violation of regulatory professional standards.
Mr. Madsen also has extensive litigation experience representing individuals and businesses in trucking & transportation, healthcare, and premise liability. He has defended small and large companies involving serious injury and wrongful death claims in matters before state and federal courts.
Mr. Madsen received his law degree from Emory University School of Law. He graduated from the University of Utah with degrees in Spanish, Political Science, and International Studies. His legal background includes experience in criminal law and family law matters. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Madsen served for ten years in the U.S. Marine Corps, Reserves and is a veteran of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In his free time, Mr. Madsen enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. He is an active leader in his church. He is also an avid running and enjoys Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
