Overview

Kelly Champ is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary LLP's Los Angeles - Orange County office. Kelly is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, and thereafter practiced at prominent law firms. Prior to his legal career, Kelly was a Corporal of Marines (Security Forces and Infantry) and was a member of the Recapture Tactics Team responsible for recapturing compromised structures containing nuclear warheads, and then operated as a vehicle commander for mounted patrols in Al Asad, Iraq, providing security for the base’s outer perimeter.

Kelly enjoys playing indoor soccer and spending time with his daughters.  As a native of Idaho, He is also an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hiking, camping, and almost anything outdoors.  He is also an avid Star Wars fan and always welcomes a spirited debate on Star Wars topics.

Kelly has litigated for and counseled a broad range of clients ranging from Fortune 500 clients and high-profile entertainment companies and talent to emerging technology startups in Silicon Valley.  Kelly had defended numerous cases where complaints sought, or the cases were valued, in excess of $100 million. In doing so, Kelly has gained extensive experience handling all phases of litigation, from drafting and answering complaints through motions for summary judgment and even appeals.
