Overview

Kevin T. O’Hara is a Partner at Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Orlando, Florida office, Vice-Chair of the firm’s Trial Advocacy/Trial On-Call, Co-Chair of the firm’s Medical Malpractice team, and part of the firm’s Executive Committee. He primarily focuses on medical malpractice defense for healthcare providers and facilities, as well as general civil trial law. Mr. O’Hara is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He holds the distinction of being a Board-Certified Civil Trial Lawyer by The Florida Bar, a title earned by less than one percent of Florida lawyers.

Before joining the firm, Mr. O’Hara earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Stetson University and his Juris Doctorate from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1986. In 2020, he completed an LL.M in Health Law. Mr. O’Hara has been recognized with numerous accolades, including an AV Peer Review rating (top rating) by Martindale-Hubbell for over 21 years.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. O’Hara frequently lectures and presents on various topics, including healthcare quality assurance, trial preparation, medical evidence, and jury selection. He has spoken at events hosted by organizations such as The Florida Anesthesia Association-FSA Conference, Holmes Regional Medical Center, and several other notable groups. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Section of The Florida Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Florida Defense Lawyers Association.
