Overview

Kyle M. Ridgeway is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Tampa office. Mr. Ridgeway concentrates his practice in the areas of labor and employment law, as well as tort and catastrophic loss. Before attending law school, he spent five years teaching high school history and government.

Mr. Ridgeway earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science at Florida State University. He received his Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, cum laude. During law school he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Stetson Business Law Review and the Research Editor of the Journal of Aging Law & Policy (published journal article Book Review: The Day I Die: The Untold Story of Assisted Dying in America (Anita Hannig, 2022), 14 J. of Aging L. & Pol’y. 33 (2023)). He was also research assistant for Dean Jason Bent, teaching assistant for Professor James Fox and Professor Lance Long, and completed the Social Justice Advocacy Certificate of Concentration.

Mr. Ridgeway served as a Federal Judicial Extern to the Honorable Thomas Wilson (M.D. Fla.) and as a Certified Legal Intern with the City of St. Petersburg, FL. His law review article was published by the U.C. Davis Social Justice Law Review, Broken Promises: The Continuing Decline of Black Farm Owners and Operators in America, 27 U.C. Davis Soc. Just. L. Rev. 50 (2023). He received the Stetson Law Pride Award for his service to the LGBTQ+ community during his time at Stetson Law and his research project with Professor Ellen Podgor (article forthcoming). He was also recognized for his pro bono service during law school with the William F. Blews Pro Bono Service Award.

In his free time, he enjoys traveling to new cities, exploring America’s National Parks, and adding to his library.
