Overview

Elisabeth “Lisa” Gentile is a Partner at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is located in the Columbus, Ohio office. She serves as Chair of the Firm’s Midwest Tort and Retail, Hospitality and Beverage practice teams and is an active member of several primary practice sections, including Tort and Catastrophic Loss, Trial Advocacy, Healthcare, Government Law, and Professional Liability. Lisa also contributes to interdisciplinary teams focused on Aging Services and Long-Term Care, Transportation, and Sexual Misconduct and Human Trafficking. With nearly three decades of litigation experience, she has built a reputation for her strategic courtroom advocacy and her ability to manage high-stakes, complex litigation across multiple jurisdictions.

Lisa represents a broad range of clients, including product and manufacturing companies, national transportation companies, healthcare professionals, and national leaders in the retail and hospitality industries. Her practice is distinguished by her hands-on approach and her ability to parachute into challenging cases, often late in the litigation process, to deliver results. She has successfully defended nearly 60 cases to verdict, including fatality claims, mass torts, fire losses, defamation, and professional liability matters. Her courtroom success is complemented by her use of mock trials, jury analyses, and focus groups to guide clients in making informed decisions about trial strategy and resolution.

Lisa is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is recognized for her contributions to trial advocacy. She frequently speaks on litigation strategy and jury engagement and has taught seminars on trial preparation and defense techniques. Lisa earned her law degree from Capital University Law School in 1996, attended Dickinson School of Law in the summer of 1994, and holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University.
