Mark Flory is a Senior Counsel at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is located in the Seal Beach office. He is a member of the firm’s Insurance Coverage and Tort & Catastrophic Loss practice sections. With more than 40 years as a civil litigator, Mr. Flory focuses his practice on representing insurers and commercial insureds in all aspects of claims handling and investigation, mediation, arbitration, trial and appeal. He has tried a wide variety of cases in state and federal courts, including declaratory relief, equitable contribution, equitable subrogation, bad faith, broker malpractice, commercial auto and general liability. He has also briefed and argued more than 50 matters in the California appellate courts, the California Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Flory has served as regional and national counsel for insurers, retaining and supervising local counsel across the country and appearing pro hac vice in multiple states. He also advises insurers and self-insured entities on claims handling, underwriting, broker and agent relations, primary and excess coverage issues and additional insured matters. He has drafted policy forms and endorsements and regularly presents on insurance coverage, transportation and litigation topics. His speaking engagements include the American Bar Association’s Transportation Megaconference, the Trucking Industry Defense Association’s Annual Conference, the ABA Commercial Transportation Litigation Committee’s Annual Conference and the Drive Cam Annual Conference, as well as presentations to insurance claims and risk management departments.
