Michael Selbst is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Hartford office. He is a member of the Tort and Catastrophic Loss and Insurance Coverage and Extra-Contractual Liability Practice Sections.
Mr. Selbst focuses his practice on the defense of individuals and insurers against tort and injury claims. He has extensive experience representing commercial motor carriers, their drivers, and their insurers in trucking lawsuits. These cases have ranged from lower-exposure motor vehicle accidents to high-exposure, complicated matters, including claims of wrongful death and catastrophic injuries.
Mr. Selbst has experience handling contractual disputes involving a wide range of property and casualty insurance policies. He regularly advises on complex insurance claims with exposures that span across numerous policy years and involve multiple layers of coverage. He also represents insurance companies against extra-contractual claims of bad faith as well as unfair trade and insurance practices.
Mr. Selbst received his Juris Doctorate from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he also served as Lead Articles Editor for the Quinnipiac Health Law Journal and was selected for publication. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Michigan State University. He is admitted to Practice in Connecticut and the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
