Nerizza Miyamoto is Senior Counsel at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP and is located in the Tampa office. Nerizza’s practice focuses on Tort & Catastrophic Loss and Construction & Design Law. Nerizza is admitted to practice law in Florida and Illinois.
Prior to joining FMG, Nerizza represented carriers in insurance and general liability defense, including personal injury defense, nursing home defense, premises liability, negligent security, and automobile and trucking liability. Before that, she represented local and regional employers and national insurers in workers’ compensation defense. After graduating from law school, Nerizza served as an Assistant Regional Counsel at the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel handling dependency, criminal and juvenile delinquency cases. Nerizza also served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 10th Judicial Circuit where she represented the State of Florida in misdemeanor criminal prosecutions and the Florida Department of Revenue in Child Support enforcement matters. During her time as a defense attorney and prosecutor, she has tried over 70 non-jury and 15 jury trials.
Nerizza is active in several professional organizations, including the Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), Sarasota County Bar Association (SCBA) and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). She currently serves as a Director of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers (FAWL), Sarasota Chapter, and was the Committee Chair of the Fred G. Minnis Bar Association (Sarasota/Bradenton) from 2022 to 2023.
She earned her law degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Alaska, Anchorage.
