Nicole "Niki" Long is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Kansas City office. She is a member of the Tort & Catastrophic Loss practice area and a member of the Sexual Misconduct & Human Trafficking team. She has significant experience defending cases involving wrongful death, alleged sexual abuse, and catastrophic injury, including claims of negligent hiring and supervision. She was honored by Missouri Lawyers Media with its 2025 Women’s Justice Award for her work as a litigation practitioner who demonstrates leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession. She has been selected as a Missouri/Kansas “Super Lawyer” every year since 2022. She has been ranked in Insurance in Missouri by Chambers USA Guide since 2024. She was recognized as a Missouri/Kansas “Rising Star” from 2015 through 2019. In 2015, she was selected as an “Up & Coming” lawyer by Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly.

Ms. Long represents a broad range of clients, including local businesses, childcare facilities, residential facilities, entertainment venues, and insurance carriers. She has experience in all facets of litigation, and her practice is largely focused on the defense of complex, high-stakes torts and sensitive liability claims. She regularly defends against claims involving allegations of intentional misconduct, abuse, and assault, navigating these deeply challenging matters with strict confidentiality, rigorous investigative depth, and strategic legal defense.

Ms. Long earned her Juris Doctor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC), Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, and was a participant in the Ross T. Roberts Inn of Court.
