Overview

Patrick J. Cosgrove is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Philadelphia office and is Co-Chair of the firm's Professional Liability / Errors and Omissions national practice section.  Mr. Cosgrove is an experienced civil litigator with a focus on defending professional malpractice actions in state and federal court.  In his practice, Mr. Cosgrove defends architects, lawyers, accountants, insurance brokers, doctors, and other professionals in proceedings brought in federal and state courts, alternative dispute venues, grand jury proceedings, state and federal investigations, and disciplinary board proceedings.  He also counsels clients in prevention techniques for avoiding litigation and other risk exposures. 

Mr. Cosgrove also handles labor and employment disputes arising under federal and state law.  He regularly handles labor and employment matters before federal and state courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and also before administrative agencies including the EEOC, the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission. He advises clients with their employee handbooks and compliance with state and federal employment law on various employment decisions and development of best practices, policies, procedures, internal investigations, employment contracts, and disciplinary measures.

Mr. Cosgrove also focuses his practice on the defense of claims involving premises liability, transportation, construction accidents, product liability, and toxic and mass tort.  Mr. Cosgrove has represented bars, restaurants, property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and trucking companies.
