Patrick T. Mulry is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Dallas office. Pat handles a broad array of matters involving construction defect litigation throughout the state of Texas. He prosecutes construction defect claims on behalf of project owners and defends construction professionals, including design professionals, materials suppliers, and contractors from allegations that their scope of work was defective. He helps clients maximize the value of their construction project work by minimizing the long-term cost to their businesses. He assists his clients with construction contracts, construction defects, claims for delay damages, foundation failures, and government contract issues, among other claims.
Since college, Pat has helped to build dozens of houses with Habitat for Humanity. He's found that his work with Habitat and his "day job" complement each other; the technical skills he's learned building houses help him to better understand the requirements and difficulties of the practice of construction. To his never-ending surprise, he often finds that he's the only lawyer in the room who actually owns construction and fabrication tools -- nailguns, table saw, Mig welder, a tube bender -- and knows how to use them. That personal experience provides an understanding of the work that helps him to defend his contractor clients and to find the holes in the cases of his opposition. Why be in a construction litigation practice if you don't enjoy construction?
Pat has been licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Texas since November 1997. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts in all four federal districts in Texas, as well as the District of Colorado the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Pat is a member of the inaugural class of attorneys who are Board Certified in Construction Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
