Overview

Raymond "Ray" Hunter is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Philadelphia office. He is a member of Tort & Catastrophic Loss and Construction & Design Law practice areas and a member of the firm's Premises Liability, Hospitality Law and Products Liability Law teams. He focuses on litigation including commercial premises liability, breach of contract disputes and advising clients regarding implementation of policies and procedures aimed at reducing risk and potential future exposure.

Mr. Hunter represents corporations and their insurers across industries including commercial property, retail and restaurants, home inspection, vehicle service contracts, construction, furniture manufacturing, boiler installation and repair and railroads. He also mentors junior attorneys on case strategy and evidence, client management and professional development.

Mr. Hunter is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the New Jersey Bar Association and the National Retail & Restaurant Defense Association. In 2025 he authored "Railroad Permissive Crossings - Has the Well-Worn Path Worn Out its Welcome?" which was published in the New Jersey Law Journal and Law.com. He was awarded the Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis LLP, Earl G. Harrison Pro Bono Award in 2022 in connection with his representation of a governmental entity in several matters involving various Philadelphia City ordinances governing the regulation of “ghost guns.” He has served on the Board of Directors of Brandywine Youth Club.
