Overview

Sam Retter is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Denver office. He is a member of the Construction & Design Law, Commercial Litigation/Directors & Officers, Tort & Catastrophic Loss, Insurance Coverage & Extra-Contractual Liability and Professional Liability/Errors & Omissions Practice Sections. He represents corporations, contractors, engineers, architects and insurance companies in a wide range of commercial, construction, and insurance-related disputes. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, construction defect claims, and professional and general liability matters.

Mr. Retter began his legal career at a civil litigation boutique in Denver, where he practiced plaintiffs’ personal injury, construction defect, insurance bad faith and workers’ compensation. Prior to joining FMG, he handled commercial surety bond and indemnity claims, construction defect and design cases, toxic tort claims and insurance coverage disputes at a Denver-based commercial litigation firm. He has gained extensive experience managing cases through all stages of litigation in both state and federal courts and is adept at developing efficient litigation and risk-management strategies, providing practical guidance to clients and delivering effective results across a broad scope of issues.

While in law school, Mr. Retter served as a student attorney in the Samuelson-Glushko Technology Law and Policy Clinic, where he worked with non-profit organizations and testified before the Colorado Senate Business Committee in support of the Colorado Right to Repair Powered Wheelchairs bill – the nation’s first consumer Right-to-Repair law to be enacted.
