Stephen Randall is Senior Counsel in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Walnut Creek, California office. Steve is experienced in both litigated matters and in providing counsel and guidance to insurers on complex insurance coverage issues on a nationwide basis, with particular focus on the western United States. Steve’s experience includes dealing with coverage-related and underwriting issues relating to a broad range of risks, including: general liability (with particular focus on construction-related claims, environmental claims, and risk transfer arrangements), professional liability, healthcare provider liability, and cyber liability exposure. His experience also includes supervising and coordinating with defense counsel on behalf of insurer clients. Steve has had full responsibility for litigating insurance coverage, extra-contractual lawsuits; and inter-insurer disputes, including contribution lawsuits, in numerous jurisdictions in both Federal and State courts, including large exposure, multi- party matters. He has significant arbitration and mediation experience.
Prior to joining Freeman, Mathis & Gary, the majority of Steve’s career was in his capacity as Senior Litigation Counsel for a large Chicago-based insurance company.
In his free time, Steve enjoys traveling (the more far flung, the better), cooking, and enjoying outdoor activities including snow shoeing, kayaking and biking.
