Steven H. Malitz is a Partner and Office Chair in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Hartford office. He focuses his litigation and trial practice in the areas of trucking and transportation, retail practice liability and products liability. This includes expertise with modes of commercial transportation such as student, city and commercial busing and livery vehicles. Mr. Malitz currently serves as regional counsel for a large national bus company. In the retail area, Mr. Malitz has defended a wide range of premises liability cases for national retailers ranging from fall down matters to falling merchandise cases and assault and battery cases. He has represented and tried numerous cases for national self insured trucking companies as well as trucking and transportation insurers in both state and federal court. Mr. Malitz has extensive experience in representing his trucking and retail clients in major accident litigation in which, when appropriate, he has worked closely with nationally renowned experts in fields such as accident investigation, accident reconstruction, human factors, safety, warnings and biomechanical engineering. Mr. Malitz has also represented his clients in cases involving owner-operators, cargo claims, criminal charges, coverage issues, breach of contract, commercial disputes, employment matters, products liability issues, hauling of hazardous materials, weight violations and workers’ compensation.
