Overview

Timothy R. Gilbert is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Nashville office. Mr. Gilbert’s practice includes the handling of construction and design defect cases as well as professional liability defense, and personal injury defense cases. With a strong foundation in legal research and writing, as well as trial practice, Mr. Gilbert has built a reputation for his meticulous attention to detail and strategic approach to every case he handles.

After graduating from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, Mr. Gilbert began his career as a law clerk in Howard, County, Maryland. There, he was exposed to a wide range of legal matters and began to hone his research and writing skills. This indispensable experience laid the groundwork for Mr. Gilbert’s future success in the legal field.

Upon completion of his clerkship, Mr. Gilbert moved to Tampa, Florida and began working in the Office of Court Counsel for Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. After several years serving the Sixth Circuit as a Staff Attorney, Mr. Gilbert accepted a position as an Assistant State Attorney. As a prosecutor, Mr. Gilbert gained invaluable courtroom experience, trying a wide variety of cases, ranging from misdemeanors to first-degree felonies.

Drawing on his courtroom and trial experience, Mr. Gilbert was able to transition to civil defense, joining a prominent Florida-based firm. There, Mr. Gilbert handled a wide array of legal matters, representing many well known corporations in lawsuits throughout the state of Florida.
