The New Haven office will be led by Fred Knopf who brings three decades of experience trying complex financial and commercial matters across the country. Mr. Knopf serves as primary general and trial counsel for one of the nation’s premier publicly traded investment banking and asset management firms.

Mr. Knopf represents a wide array of clients including retail brokerage and advisory businesses, investment banks, securities broker dealers, registered representatives, investment advisors and insurance agents.

His experience includes all aspects of the securities industry including cases before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, advising clients on regulatory and compliance issues and acting as a mediator. In addition, he has defended a number of accountants and financial professionals in errors and omission claims. His career has encompassed over 3,000 litigation matters and acting as lead trial counsel for over 100 cases.

Ben Mathis, FMG’s Managing Partner, said, “Fred Knopf is an exceptional lawyer with a wealth of securities and financial experience that is rare to find. He brings a nationwide practice to our Financial Services and Banking practice section. Adding Connecticut to our Boston, New York and Philadelphia offices also continues our goal to build out an elite team of attorneys throughout the Northeast. Collectively, we now have added over 25 new lawyers to theses four offices since the first of the year, and we continue to exceed our growth targets in our key commercial, financial and banking practice areas.”

“FMG’s national footprint, deep bench of trial lawyers and entrepreneurial culture all were critical to my  choosing to join the firm,” said Mr. Knopf.
