Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s 2025 Annual Report and Holiday Message to Friends and Clients

12/17/25

Holiday Message

Dear Friends,

It is my privilege each year to share this holiday message and brief update on behalf of our law firm with our valued clients and friends.

Reflecting on the journey since we first opened our doors nearly three decades ago, it’s remarkable how far we’ve come. Starting with just eight lawyers, three secretaries and an office manager, we crossed a significant milestone this fall – Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP now has over 500 attorneys. Along with our paralegals, management and staff, our team has grown to more than 900 members across 38 offices in 21 states.

2025 in Review

This year, we continued to expand the depth and reach of our trial practice. “When It Counts” is more than a tagline and reflects our firm’s commitment to providing the talent and resources needed to handle and win our clients’ most critical and complex litigation.

We significantly expanded our Denver office with the addition of the attorneys from Treece Alfrey Musat, including partners Rob Zavaglia, J.B. Fairbanks, Lauren Getsie, Kate Johnson and Reza Rismani.

Our growth in Florida continued throughout 2025. We grew the new Orlando office with the attorneys from Telan, Meltz, Wallace, & Eide, led by Eric Eide. In Tampa, we expanded our office with the healthcare attorneys from Batteese Agliano & Gale, led by Tyler Batteese, Brian Agliano and Ted Gale. The Tampa office also added a construction team led by Peter Lenart and Mike Rigelsky

In September, we welcomed 57 law school graduates, bringing fresh energy and enthusiasm to FMG.

Recognition and Achievements

This year brought further national recognition to FMG as one of the leading litigation firms in America. An impressive 114 of our attorneys were named to The Best Lawyers in America®. Maria Alexander in Hartford and Jessica Gray Kelly in Boston earned “Lawyer of the Year” honors in their respective practice areas. FMG was ranked nationally and regionally in 30 practice areas by Best Law Firms® – United States.

Our firm was again ranked on the prestigious Am Law 200 list of America’s largest law firms, climbing seven spots from last year. We also earned a place on the “Best Companies to Work For: Law Firms” list by U.S. News & World Report.

Our Freeman Mathis Decisions team was ranked the No. 2 law firm-affiliated governmental affairs firm in Georgia.

A Year of Celebrations and Milestones

Beyond the numbers and accolades, 2025 was filled with personal milestones for our FMG family. From births and marriages to graduations and retirements, the cycles of life continued to bring joy and meaning to our firm.

We suffered a great loss with the unexpected passing of our partner Jeremy Swift. Jeremy was a wonderful person and a brilliant attorney, and we miss him very much. The end of this year will see several retirements — our partners Doug Holthus in Columbus, Chris Lynch in Hartford and Michael Sanders in Chicago each will be concluding their active practices after distinguished careers and as valued members of our firm. We wish all three partners long, happy and fulfilling lives after remarkable careers.

Gratitude

Finally, as I have closed each of these annual notes since I first wrote in 1997, we recognize that, in a world of change, one constant is our appreciation for our clients. Any success we have achieved is only because you continue to entrust us with your legal matters. We recognize and value that the relationship between attorney and client is much more than a typical business arrangement. It is a partnership to confront the difficulties and risks of a legal system that can be challenging and often is not fair. We strive every day to meet and exceed your expectations, and we are thankful for the opportunity to represent you.

On behalf of the entire FMG family from all corners of our great nation, we wish you a happy holiday season and a safe and prosperous New Year.

Warm regards,

Ben Mathis
