Caitlyn Fontana is an Associate at Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, practicing in the firm’s Newark and New York offices. She is a member of the Professional Liability/Errors & Omissions, Construction & Design Law, Tort & Catastrophic Loss practice sections.

Ms. Fontana’s practice includes the defense of complex construction defect claims, where she represents contractors, developers, and design professionals in high-exposure litigation involving alleged design deficiencies, construction failures, and project-related disputes. She also represents clients in the transportation and aviation industries, including airlines, airport authorities, and related entities.

Ms. Fontana further focuses her practice on the defense of complex professional liability and errors and omissions (E&O) claims, representing accountants, attorneys, financial advisors, and securities professionals. She has successfully defended national, regional, and local firms in high-stakes matters brought by clients, trustees, and liquidators, involving issues such as alleged employee defalcations, revenue recognition, valuations, tax liability accounting, internal controls, and estate-related disputes. Her ability to navigate technically sophisticated financial and accounting issues allows her to deliver strategic, results-driven advocacy.

She also represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities, handling matters involving audits, penalty and tax abatements, private letter rulings, and other forms of administrative relief.

Prior to joining FMG, Ms. Fontana practiced as a tax controversy and compliance associate at a global law firm, where she advised high-net-worth individuals, multinational families, and closely held businesses in disputes with taxing authorities. This experience informs her disciplined and detail-oriented approach to litigation.
