Elizabeth Raines is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP’s Downtown Dallas office. She is a member of the Commercial Litigation and Tort & Catastrophic Loss practice areas. She is also a member the Firm’s Products Liability and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Teams. She focuses on complex commercial litigation, high-stakes matters, products liability and mass torts litigation, and personal injury defense. She has represented clients nationwide, ranging from large corporations to local businesses and has tried cases in federal and state courts, including jury trials and bench trials.
Ms. Raines represents clients across a wide range of industries, including automotive, aviation, chemical, cosmetics, electronics, entertainment, hospitality, insurance, medical device, motorsports, motor vehicle, pharmacy, pharmaceutical, recreational products, restaurant, retail, telecommunications, tobacco, toy, and transportation. In addition to defending companies in lawsuits, she advises them on dispute resolution outside of litigation, preparedness for litigation, and product instructions and warnings. Her work regularly involves not only complex legal issues but also challenging medical, scientific or technical issues, regulations and standards. She has served on national and regional defense and trial teams for clients involved in products liability and toxic tort mass actions. Her practice also encompasses commercial contract, business tort, and personal tort matters.
Ms. Raines is a member of the Dallas Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas Litigation Section. She served on the board of a state defense organization for several years, including as chair of the amicus committee, and has participated in multiple sections and committees of national legal associations. She has spoken at and authored publications for conferences and continuing education programs on subjects including jury selection, legal writing, special issues in products liability, damages, professionalism, reptile theory, and trial tactics. She has participated in many pro bono initiatives including Election Protection and the Midwest Innocence Project as well as representing clients in family court matters. In her early career, she participated in the Ross T. Roberts Inn of Court and graduated from the IADC Trial Academy.
