Overview

Julia Ray is an Associate in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Columbus office. She is a member of the Government Law, Tort & Catastrophic Loss, Labor & Employment Law, Healthcare, and Professional Liability/Errors & Omissions practice areas.

Ms. Ray represents clients in civil litigation matters through all stages of litigation, including trial. She has experience defending a wide range of claims and recently obtained a defense verdict in a wrongful death jury trial on behalf of an assisted living facility.

Prior to joining FMG, Ms. Ray completed a judicial clerkship with a Judge in the Kentucky Circuit Court.

During law school, Ms. Ray served as a Staff Editor of the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, & Natural Resources Law (KJEANRL) and was an active member of the Women’s Law Caucus.

Representative Cases & Clients

  • FMG attorneys Lisa Gentile and Julia Ray obtained a defense verdict in a wrongful death trial on behalf of an assisted living facility. Plaintiff made a pre-suit settlement demand of $1.5 million and asked the jury for $10 million at trial.
  • Plaintiff’s wrongful death claim was based on a fall suffered by the decedent at the facility. The jury found no negligence or proximate cause, leading to a unanimous defense verdict.
