Juliana Sleeper is Senior Counsel in Freeman Mathis & Gary’s Atlanta office, where she brings over a decade of litigation and appellate experience to the firm. She has represented governmental entities in high-stakes litigation across Georgia’s state and federal courts, with a focus on complex civil rights, constitutional and tort matters. She has successfully defended counties and public officials in a wide array of high-stakes cases, including those involving allegations of police use of force, wrongful death and conditions of confinement.
Mrs. Sleeper has briefed and argued numerous appeals, including 27 before the Georgia Supreme Court, 33 in the Georgia Court of Appeals and 3 in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. She has delivered oral arguments in the Georgia Supreme Court and the Georgia Court of Appeals, and has tried both criminal and civil cases to verdict.
Prior to joining FMG, Ms. Sleeper served as Senior Assistant County Counsel in the Complex Litigation Unit of the Fulton County Attorney’s Office, where she led litigation involving wrongful death, inmate rights and conditions of confinement. She also served as a Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Major Crimes: Appeals Unit of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, managing a high-volume appellate caseload and providing appellate support to trial prosecutors.
Ms. Sleeper began her legal career as a litigation associate at a boutique products liability firm, where she handled complex civil litigation, including multi-million-dollar trials and appeals involving asbestos exposures.
