Petra Ambrose is a Partner in Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP's Seattle and Las Vegas offices. Ms. Ambrose is a member of the Professional Liability/Errors & Omissions, Construction & Design Law, and Labor & Employment Law practice areas. She is a seasoned litigator with over 20 years of experience in numerous areas, and licensed to practice in Washington, Nevada, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia. Her practice is currently focused on defending malpractice and professional liability suits against attorneys, medical professionals, accountants, real estate brokers, directors and officers, and construction design professionals, as well as employment law and commercial litigation.
Ms. Ambrose also has over 20 years of experience representing general contractors and construction design professionals in construction injury and construction-defect related litigation, products liability, personal injury, premises liability, and representing insurers in insurance bad faith litigation. She has extensive experience litigating, mediating, and settling cases in both state and federal courts in Nevada and Washington. Ms. Ambrose’s experience in numerous practice areas has given her unmatched insight into defending her clients. She prides herself on using creative strategies to obtain favorable results for clients, including dismissals. She regularly obtains dismissals on behalf of clients, including at the pleading stage.
Ms. Ambrose is an active leader in the professional liability and legal communities, having served as Chair of the Northwest Chapter of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) from 2020-2024. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the State Bar of Nevada, the District of Columbia Bar, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, the King County Bar Association, the Iranian American Bar Association, the Association of Professional Responsibility Attorneys (APRL), and the American Bar Association Standing Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Ms. Ambrose has authored publications and delivered presentations on professional liability and advocacy, including a 2024 presentation for the Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund Defense Counsel Conference regarding a legal malpractice jury trial which resulted in a directed verdict in favor of her clients. She served as a Nevada Supreme Court appointed mediator for the State of Nevada’s Foreclosure Mediation Program from 2010-2012.
