In addition to his trial and appellate practice, Mr. Nahigian practices before a variety of administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Boards of Registration in Medicine and Nursing and the Massachusetts Boards of Registration of Psychologists, Social Workers and Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professionals. He understands that these are high-stakes proceedings, and he has consistently achieved favorable results for his clients facing disciplinary action by their licensing boards. Mr. Nahigian also defends health care professionals in HIPAA enforcement proceedings and investigations by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Civil Rights.
Mr. Nahigian's approach recognizes that prevention is often the best defense. He helps his health care clients with practice management issues including HIPAA compliance, and he provides risk management services to licensed mental health care providers throughout Massachusetts and elsewhere, often in cooperation with professional associations and liability insurance programs. In recognition of his contributions in this area, the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselor’s Association (MaMHCA) presented him with its 2018 President’s Award.
Mr. Nahigian sits on the Board of Trustees of the First Armenian Church in Belmont, Massachusetts, and has served as church co-moderator and chair. He has also served as a pro bono liaison for the Medical-Legal Partnership, Boston. He is an outdoors enthusiast. In addition to hiking, skiing and backpacking, he enjoys reading and playing guitar.
