Overview

Bill Catto is a nationally recognized trial lawyer, Co-Chair of the firm’s Philadelphia office, Co-Chair of the firm’s Tort Practice Section, and a member of the firm's national On Call Trial team. Mr. Catto concentrates in high-exposure litigation and has tried a variety of cases to successful verdicts throughout Pennsylvania. Mr. Catto has over 25 years of courtroom trial experience in defending complex class and individual plaintiff cases. His practice includes commercial/D&O matters, professional liability and employment. Mr. Catto has defended public and private corporations, non-profits, community associations and governmental entities.

Mr. Catto is often called on by clients to assume significant cases headed for trial. His reputation as a premier courtroom attorney has led to his representing an array of clients in high-profile cases for bodily injury and property damage arising out of products, transportation, premises, operations and advertising. His professional liability practice includes the defense of homeowner associations, real estate professionals, lawyers and other professionals as well as architects and engineers named in litigation involving multiple types of residential and commercial construction.



Mr. Catto’s employment practice includes defense of claims for discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour and unlawful termination, whether such claims are brought by an individual or on a class action basis. He also provides advice and counsel to his clients regarding appropriate policies and risk management advice in order to proactively avoid claims and litigation.

Mr. Catto’s commercial practice focuses on litigation of commercial contracts, FDCPA disputes, TCPA claims, unfair business practice cases, trade libel and false advertising, restrictive covenant disputes, as well as claims brought against individual owners, executives, and directors and officers for alleged breach of fiduciary duty and improper usurping of business opportunities.

Mr. Catto works closely with clients to develop a plan of action for the best possible resolution, including settlements (at the most advantageous point in the case), dispositive motion practice or trial. Should the best course of action be trial, his experience and courtroom skills provide clients with great confidence to take the case to verdict.
