FMG Expands in Chicago with Lawyers from
Purcell & Wardrope

12/1/22

Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP, a leading nationwide litigation firm, is pleased to announce that the lawyers of the Chicago law firm Purcell & Wardrope will be joining the firm on January 1, 2023. The Purcell & Wardrope firm first began in 1968 and is a premier Chicago litigation and appellate boutique. Together with our existing team in the Windy City, FMG will begin the new year with 16 lawyers in its Chicago office.

Led by partners Kingshuk Roy, Bradford Purcell, Michael Sanders, Dustin Karrison and Amy Frantz, the new group of attorneys brings a broad-based trial and appellate practice to the firm. Practice areas include catastrophic loss, construction law, design and professional liability, coverage and bad faith, transportation law and employment law. In addition to the new partners joining the firm, FMG also welcomes Barry Whalen and Joanne Matousek as senior counsel, as well as Sagar Thakkar and Kolton Reed as associates.

With this expansion, FMG’s offices will be moving to a new location to accommodate this growth. Our new office address will be located at 33 North Dearborn St, Suite 1430, Chicago, IL 60602.

Ben Mathis, FMG’s Managing Partner, said, “We are excited to welcome King Roy, Brad Purcell and the entire Purcell & Wardrope team to FMG. For over 50 years, the P&W firm has been a go-to Chicago firm for high stakes trial and appellate work. They will be valuable additions and enhance our existing team of trial and appellate lawyers. Chicago and the Midwest will continue to be a focus area for our growth. In just three years, we have grown to nearly 40 lawyers in Illinois, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.”

King Roy states, “This is an excellent opportunity for our team to join a national firm that has a stellar reputation for their litigation and appellate capabilities. We believe the larger platform and resources FMG brings will allow us to better serve clients both locally and throughout the country. We look forward to continuing FMG’s dramatic growth nationally and in the Midwest.”
